YOUR TRUE IDENTITY
You are not what people think you are, you are not what people say you are, you are not what your parents, society, tribe or community portray you to be.
You are not what the circumstances or situations in your life make you to be.
You are not what your education level made you to be, you are not your social class level.
You are not your skin.
Time to time people struggle with their identity, trying to find out who they really are.
They have tried to become a lot like their friends, family or even society but somehow within them, there is a void.
Many have tried to fill this void with all sorts of things, change their skin color, attain wealth in not so good ways, get college degrees, changing where they live, what they wear, how they talk, who they mingle with just but to name a few but all this never fills that void.
I believe you have come across statements like "i need time to go find myself" the question is where do we lose ourselves?
We are all born in society that dictates a lot from us, where we are told what to do & what not to do, where to stay, who to be with etc so from the word go there are rules set for us that we must abide by.
You finish school & a career is already chosen for you to undertake and along the way you begin to realise that this is not me, this is not what am supposed to be doing, you find no joy or satisfaction in doing what is cut out for you.
In the society where they promote education more than talents, the struggle begins.
Question is, what is more important living a life as predestined by God or as the society, community, parents, education system spells it out?
I have friends who went to school got college degrees just because their parents said so & afterwards end up doing something totally different in life. As long as you don't know who you are, you will be manipulated or pressured into a life that is not yours but someone's else's, a life that they think you ought to be, you live to fit in into other peoples lives rather than live your own, remember we are all created differently, what i can do is not what you can do, we can be called in the same ministry but our output is totally, completely different.
Not knowing who you are often leads to insecurities, stress & poor leadership, you cannot serve others, You are always on the look out, that people don't discover who you truly are, simply because you have refused to accept yourself the way you are.
So how do you begin the journey to self discovery!
In the beginning we mentioned who you are not so who are you?
You are who your creator says you are, you are who He, before hand predestined you to be.
Knowing your identity begins by knowing whose you are. Your identity is in Christ Jesus outside that, your identity is not found.
The bible says the plans for our lives is in God's hand, only Him knows, He loves us, He cares for us, He knows us, He created us, It is in Him that we live, move and have our being. (Acts 17:28)
Jeremiah 1:5
5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart;I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
It is God, that way before, He ordained our days, fixed the places we shall all live & He calls us.
1 Peter 2:9
9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
If you want to know who you are, you find it in Christ Jesus, what God calls you to be is what you are, not what you, yourself think, not even what your past dictates.
Call on Him and He will reveal it you, don't look for it in other's peoples lives nor the world.
Seek him & when you find Him you will find yourself. The bible says that you will seek Him and find Him when you seek Him with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13)
