DISCOVER YOUR GREATNESS & REMAIN FOCUSED
DISCOVER YOUR GREATNESS & REMAIN FOCUSED
Everyone has been
born with something but the journey won’t begin till you find out what it is
and be focused on it till you achieve it.
Having said all that, the journey to greatness is
accompanied with lots of challenges but the most important thing is to remain
focused. Let’s take a look at a story in the bible about David the son of Jesse
yes the one who was a shepherd and later on became a king.
His father sent him to bring food for his brother at the camp
of the army where the Israelites’ and the philistine had drawn the battle line.
When he got there he found Goliath the philistine giant making his usual
threats to the Israelites and they would run away out of fear. David heard that
a great reward was to be given for anyone who will defeat him.
David went ahead to inquire from the people more about the
reward promised but his brother heard
him asking & came to him and asked him to go back and attend to his father’s
livestock at the fields because that is where he belongs, David paid less attention to his brother`s critic and went to the next person and asked more of the reward for killing Goliath.
David presented himself to the king and told him that no one
should continue to fear for he will go up and fight goliath. Saul looked down
upon David telling him that he is only but a boy & cannot defeat Goliath
but David with confident told Saul that all his life he has been fighting with
lions and bears & got away with no scratch, Saul couldn’t say anything more
so he let him go fight goliath.
Saul dressed David with a coat of armor but David could not
walk in it so he removed it and went to the battle field, as he walked, goliath
saw him and laughed and made fun of him but David using the staff in his hand a
mare sling and a stone he hit the giant on the head and defeated him and
brought victory over the Israelites.
So what do we learn from this story found in 1 Samuel 17?
David had discovered certain greatness in him that he
possessed that no one knew of or saw it in him. His closest family, brother,
could not see it in him either, the only thing that he saw was just his little
brother & a shepherd. King Saul himself also saw just a boy who was just
foolish to even want to contend with the giant that no one could go up against.
The giant himself mocked him as he approached the battle field. What does this
tell you, not everyone in your life will acknowledge or see the greatness in
you apart from yourself. You have to discover the potential in you to slay any
kind of giant that is threatening your life; you have to discover the kind of
peculiar strength that you possess. In you lies greatness that if you want to
be successful you, must discover.
David was focused &
confident in himself and that is why he dared to ask of the reward and
even though his own brother criticized him he did not relent he went on ahead
to ask again and when he got the clear view of the reward he stepped forward to
fight goliath. People are going to criticize your potential people are going to
mock you but it’s really upon you to believe in yourself and be confident and
remain focused. Be focus on what you want and go get it, people around you even
the closest one may not see anything in you but don’t let that pull you down
actually let it boost or motivate you to achieving it.
David did not let anything bring him down not even the
negative comment from his own brother or the king or even the giant himself he
believed in himself for he had discovered greatness in him and he was focused
on getting the reward and not to prove anyone wrong. Many are the times we
become bitter when people do not believe in us or see anything great in us and
so we put all the efforts to prove them wrong and by that we lose focus and end
up doing the right thing for the wrong reasons. David was not about to prove
any point to anyone all he wanted was the reward, that was his focus which he
gained it at the end. Magic happens when we start believing in ourselves.
There is a staff that God has placed in our hands and every
one of us has to use it In order to succeed. David did not defeat Goliath using
anything else but just the staff in his hand. Use what God has given you and by
using it you will defeat every giant that comes your way remember that
even Moses also had to use the staff in
his hand to defeat the Egyptians and save the Israelites
Your enemies will always throw the usual defiance to bring
you down they will never come up with anything knew so don’t give in or runaway
like the Israelites but be like David, confident and focused. David also knew
one secret to victory it is to put God first. Don’t be too ambitious that you
move God from His position; remember He comes first and never second.
Be yourself, true and real. If David could have faced
goliath wearing the coat of armor given to him by king Saul chances are he
would have been defeated for that was not who he was that is why he couldn’t
even walk in it. Don’t try to be someone else but be yourself; there can never
be another you and the same goes to everyone else. Everyone is unique and that is why no one can
do anything like someone else even if they are in the same field.
I believe that you have learned a lot from this David story,
it’s now upon you to embark in the journey of success and victory but you must:
1)
Discover the greatness in you
2)
Be confident & focused
3)
Don’t give in to critics
4)
Use the staff in your hand
5)
Put God first
6)
Believe in yourself even if no one does.
7)
Be yourself { real & true}
